The Environmotional Awareness Shows are a music-based educational program that gives students an emotional attachment to what they are learning about sustainability & climate change. This emotional perspective is often left out within Environmental Education.
Music has a proven unrivaled ability to connect at an emotional level. The songs provide much needed emotional release for how students may be feeling about sustainability & climate change, for example, feelings like; fear, anxiety, despair, anger, frustration, apathy, indifference, & guilt. This emotional release often leads to motivation, stimulation & enjoyment around the topics & towards making changes in their school & communities.
The show is a music concert with each song prefaced by dialogue containing practical information around a given topic then combined with an emotional element which is then re-enforced by the music & lyrics. At the conclusion of the show there is opportunity for discussion & information & resources are provided that can be easily implemented in their lives allowing them to become active agents of positive change in their communities along with access to a range of follow-up support and resources on & offline including the Social, Self & Environmental Awareness Blog.
