When Vanessa Layton returned to Australia soon after the birth of her first child, she couldn’t believe that ‘eco’ disposable nappies were seen as a niche product. In Europe, where she’d been living, they were considered normal and they were available at major supermarkets – why not here?

In Europe, it’s generally accepted that eco disposables are better for the baby, and better for the environment. It was important to Vanessa that the nappies she used were as eco friendly as possible from the manufacturing process through to disposal, to minimise the carbon footprint. The nappies also had to be affordable, better for baby and excellent quality.

The Bambo Nature range of nappies from Denmark satisfied all the requirements. They are the only nappies to be awarded the Nordic Swan Eco Label, the eco label granted by the governments of five Scandinavian countries. They weren’t available in Australia, so Vanessa set up Nordic Nappies to distribute them here. Bambo Nature nappies don’t cost a fortune – in fact they are the most affordable of the eco disposables. They also work – no leaking or splitting, great for day and night use, and they are kinder to babies’ skin – a win for everyone!
