A new report on the current state of Australia’s biodiesel industry is now available from ICLEI
– Local Governments for Sustainability – Oceania (ICLEI Oceania).

Biodiesel in Australia: Benefits, Issues and Opportunities for Local Government Uptake can
be downloaded from the Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Australia Program website:
www.iclei.org/ccp-au.

With contributions from 50 local governments across five states and over 20 industry
stakeholders, this 100-page report provides a thorough overview of the current state of the
biodiesel industry in Australia.

The report will be a valuable resource for council officers, managers, CEOs and councillors
wanting to investigate biodiesel uptake further and ensure that their fuel choices have the desired environmental, economic and social outcomes.

The Biodiesel Research Project was funded by the State Government of Victoria, Department of Sustainability and Environment.

For 10 years ICLEI Oceania has been building capacity within Australian local governments
to reduce their greenhouse impact through the CCP Australia Program.

Across Australia, 227 CCP councils have reduced their carbon emissions by nearly 9 million
tonnes since the beginning of the Australian program in 1997. To find out more about how
Australian cities are progressing the sustainable development agenda and helping their
communities to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions contact ICLEI Oceania.

The CCP Australia Program is delivered through a partnership between ICLEI Oceania and
the Australian Greenhouse Office.
