The agreement was witnessed by the Hon Dr Craig Emerson MP, Minister for Trade, during his recent trade mission to China. China is making significant investments in sustainability and the environment, including producing a higher percentage of power through renewable energy than most developed countries, including Australia. China has been looking for solutions in the environmental remediation arena from around the world and OTEK was selected in the face of strong competition froma series of international companies. David Dukes, Trade Commissioner for Austrade in Beijing said, "This has been a great combined effort from the Austrade Clean Tech and OTEK teams. It really shows how much can be achieved when government and industry work together to leverage what each side can do best to help support Chinese initiatives. I am confident that it is just the beginning of the good story for OTEK in China." Commenting on the Chinese agreement, OTEK Director Grant Scott, said, "OTEK sees this as a big step towards supporting environmental initiatives in China. The leading edge technology and solutions we can offer have helped set OTEK apart from other providers across the world. We are proud to be one of the first Australian companies to win a major environmental clean-up and remediation contract in a country that is making considerable strides to improve the environment." Additionally, Michael Nicholls, Vice President of China Marketing and Business Development for OTEK said, "This project is unique in China and is being watched across the country to see how effective the implemented technology and expertise is." OTEK is a privately held, leading Asia and Pacific based environmental, engineering and remediation consultancy company established in 1991. Its foundation was based on petroleum hydrocarbon assessment and remediation projects. OTEK has demonstrated world's best practice in environmental projects utilising innovative technologies not used previously in the region.
