2011 Thiess International Riverprize Finalists Announced!

RiverFoundation

rfInternational RiverFoundation (IRF) is pleased to announce the finalists of the 2011 Thiess International Riverprize, the world's most prestigious environmental prize!

The finalists are:

  • Charles River, Massachusetts. USA
  • Mattole River, California. USA
  • Yarra River, Victoria. Australia

Finalists are to be congratulated for demonstrating excellence and innovation in river restoration and/or management. International Riverprize Judging Panel Chair, Professor Paul Greenfield, said "this year's decision making process has been a difficult one with deliberations taking longer than expected".

IRF CEO Matthew Reddy says "recognition as the world's best river basin manager and to join the ranks of previous winners like the Thames, Danube and Mekong creates a lot of competitive tension, but in the end there can only be one winner of the world's largest environmental prize".

The winner of the 2011 Thiess International Riverprize will be announced at the Riverprize Gala Dinner on Tuesday 27 September, 2011, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, during the 14th International Riversymposium (26-29 September, 2011).
