Finalists announced - Premier's Sustainability Awards, 2011

awardNow in their ninth year, the Premier's Sustainability Awards recognise and reward Victorian businesses, institutions, communities and individuals that are forging a sustainable Victoria now and for the future.

On May 5, the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Ryan Smith announced the finalists and congratulated them on their success and efforts in forging a more sustainable Victoria.

"Their initiatives demonstrate that our finalists are leaders in their respective industries," Mr Smith said.

"They have taken a creative approach to improving business efficiency while reducing their everyday environmental impact."

Some of the highlight sustainability initiatives that the finalists have achieved include: world first technology in wind turbines, 7 Star energy efficient homes, Australia's first community owned wind farm, Integrated Water Management Plans, conversion technology allowing waste reduction by up to 90 per cent in 24 hours, energy micro‐generation indoor warm water facilities and much more.

Categories winners and the recipient of the Premier's Recognition Award will be announced on Thursday 9 June at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

VECCI Sustainability Services would also like to join the Minister in congratulating the finalists of these prestigious sustainability awards.

State Government: Department of Health; Department of Treasury and Finance; Eastern Health
