TWS urges support after Cyclone Yasi destruction
The Wilderness Society, Dr Tim Seelig (Queensland Campaign Manager)

yasiOn behalf of everyone at the Wilderness Society, we wish to express our deepest concerns and sympathies to the individuals, families and communities in northern Queensland impacted by highly destructive Cyclone Yasi.

Our thoughts over the coming days are with everyone affected by this Cyclone. We have great concern for all those who are struggling with damage or destruction of their homes and belongings, and hope there will be no loss of life.

Our Cairns Campaign Centre is located in the area impacted by Cyclone Yasi, and our Cairns staff and volunteers are part of the affected Queensland communities.

More information on this cyclone and emergency responses is available at the Queensland Government website: www.qld.gov.au/cyclone/

Disaster relief donations

As with the damage from recent floods, we will stand alongside our fellow Queenslanders as we all begin the long process of cleaning up after this major storm.

The Wilderness Society encourages people to help by donating to the Queensland Premier's disaster relief appeal. To make a donation to help victims of the flood, call 1800 219 028 or visit the QLD Disaster relief web site: www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html
