New Attraction at Kosciuszko Education Centre now open to the public

NSWPWS

eMaryam-and-Tahir-Rangwalla-and-their-parents-20The general public will be given the chance to visit a part of the Kosciuszko Education Centre during the summer and autumn school holidays which is generally only available to school groups.

The Kosciarium is an indoor hands-on discovery area that allows visitors the chance to explore and develop an understanding of the important natural and cultural values of Kosciuszko National Park

Discovery Centre coordinator, Dan Nicholls, said that it's a great place for families..

"What is really nice about the Kosciarium is that family groups can explore at their own pace"

"We also run guided walks and structured activities which many families enjoy but the Kosciarium is like play time for the whole family" said Dan.

As a part of the NSW National Parks Discovery Program and to help celebrate the United Nations International Year of Forests the Kosciuszko Education Centre has developed, An Enchanting Forest Walk.

This summer for the first time groups can also take a short self guided bush walk as a part of their visit to the Kosciarium with each group being given an activity kit containing a map and a set of fun scientific and sensory awareness activates to use along the track.

"We are hoping to achieve a few things with this program" said Dan.

"First we wanted to carry the small family group dynamic that people seam to enjoy in the Kosciarium out into the bush and then we wanted to slow down the family bush walk.

"This track only goes about four hundred metres but with these activities to do along the track people can find all sorts of wonderful or enchanting things, even in a small space".
