qruQRU has secured funding from the Australian Food and Grocery Council's Packaging Stewardship Forum (PSF), whose members are Australian largest beverage manufacturers and their packaging suppliers, to install new recycling systems at Ballymore and reduce their overall impact on landfill.

The PSF has worked closely with QRU in the past and is renowned for their work in delivering industry recycling, litter reduction and education programs throughout Australia.

Queensland Rugby Ground Operations Manager Scott Wallis welcomed the introduction of the new recycling systems and the support of the PSF.

"The funding from the Packing Stewardship Forum and the transformation of our recycling program at Ballymore is a welcome addition for Queensland Rugby. The PSF has introduced a number of worthy and professional initiatives that we have been involved with in the past, so we are delighted to be again working alongside them," Wallis said.

Earlier in the year Reds players worked together with the PSF to promote the highly influential Do The Right Thing, Use The Right Bin campaign at Suncorp Stadium. Reds captain James Horwill is a recycling ambassador for all events at Suncorp, where he appears in a 30 second TVC at each home game.

PSF General Manager Jenny Pickles congratulated Queensland Rugby on their enthusiasm in tackling the challenges associated with away from home recycling.

"Queensland Rugby recognised and was eager to maximise their recycling potential at Ballymore and we came on board with our expertise about how to do it."

"Through well placed infrastructure, good promotion and our message of Do the Right Thing Use the Right Bin we have shown we can deliver effective away from home recycling systems in public places, such as here at Ballymore," Ms Pickles said.

Ballymore is one of sixteen (16) well known sporting and entertainment venues participating in the PSF's away from home recycling program, with installations already completed at other Queensland venues (some in partnership with the Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management). These venues include Dairy Farmers Stadium, Skilled Park Stadium, The Gabba, Suncorp Stadium, Carrara Stadium, WetNWild Waterworld, Movie World, Dreamworld, Seaworld, Currumbin Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary, Cairns Convention Centre, Gold Coast Convention Centre, Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and Mackay Exhibition and Convention Centre.
