Climate Change and Environmental Science: new majors offered through the Master of Environment at Melbourne Uni

Melbourne University

treeAre you looking for a flexible, multi-disciplinary Masters with a focus on Climate Change or Environmental Science?  These two new majors are being offered in the Master of Environment for 2011, with applications accepted from now until 30 November (CSP places are available).

Environmental Science

If you have a background in Science and would like to apply these principles to understanding or management of the natural and built environment, the Environmental Science major will help you achieve your goals.

This Masters program will give you the skills to analyse scientific evidence and arguments such as those forming the basis of environmental policy. This means that you will be well placed to offer leadership through your solid understanding of environmental modelling, monitoring and assessment techniques and application of technologies.

Careers for students graduating from the Master of Environment (Environmental Science) may be in both public and private sectors, in companies or institutions concerned with environmental management and environmental policy, or in environmental agencies.

Climate Change

"Climate Change is the all encompassing environmental issue of the 21st Century" - Andrew Millington, Director of Environmental Program, College of Geosciences.

Effective solutions require a new generation of policymakers, managers and scientists equipped with multi-disciplinary understanding of climate change issues as well as of technological limits, potentials and risks.

By choosing this major you can study international conventions, strategic government and business policy, climate science, energy technology, and economic analysis, and management. The course will give you the opportunity to establish a network of fellow climate change professionals.

Climate change mitigation and adaptation are increasingly being integrated into business management, government policy and technology design, giving you a vast range of career options upon completion of your degree.
