PEATS RIDGE 2010 - DEC 29 TO JAN 1 - GLENWORTH VALLEY, NSW

peats-ridgeKenny to service The Peats Ridge Toilets!

Following lots of feedback from 2009, we are pleased to inform you that we have completely redesigned the Festival's toilet and shower systems from the ground up. The Festival has engaged Splashdown, Australia's most professional toilet supplier (and the company behind KENNY!) to provide all the toilet cubicles at the Festival  and as well as this will be doubling the total amount of toilets and showers available throughout the Festival site. We have also engaged 8 cleaners, employed full time solely to ensure the toilets and showers are always immaculate.

On top of this we are extremely proud to announce that we have found a way to turn toilet waste from flushing toilets into compost! We believe Peats Ridge is the first event in the world to achieve this and that it will open the door to a whole new level of sustainable event management in the event industry globally. Combining the low flush toilet technology of Splashdown with the high-tech solutions of SITA and nature's own natural composting processes, all the toilet waste from this year's Festival will be processed locally and will end up as 100% compost, available to be spread across garden beds throughout the region. For more information on this and all the other sustainable initiatives the festival has in place please take the time to check out the details in our Model event section.

THE ARTS PROGRAM

A highlight of Peats Ridge for all festival goers is our provocative and tantalising arts program. The 2010 program is set to be our biggest arts program to date. An exuberant, bold and captivating concoction of installations and performance art, theatre, dance, cabaret, theatre, roving performers, comedy, acrobatics, installations and much, much more, will spread across 5 stages that wind along the riverbank.

Some highlights we can uncover are...

WONDERLAND

Go down the rabbit hole to discover a mystical land of gypsy's, mushrooms, absinth and everything weird and wonderful that lies between. Think The Cat In The Hat, crossed with Willy Wonka and inspired by Tim Burton - you may be somewhere near the idea of Wonderland...

A place where both adults and children can share a drink, watch a flea circus or puppet show, listen to strange stories, have a go at interpretive dance, watch a kooky band or join in on the open mic. Lolo Lovina's Caravan will return presenting entertainment for everyone.

Wonderland will also host a real life Wedding, which will take place on December 29th. The happy couple Amy & Brod, who met at Peats Ridge in 2008 and shared their first kiss on New Years Eve at Peats Ridge in 2009, will be tying the knot at Peats Ridge 2010. Amy says; "Peats Ridge is such a magical place away from the rest of the world, where you can be yourself without distraction"

Come and celebrate with the happy couple!!!

BOUDOIR DE LA FOX

Boudoir De La Fox will be a theatre space, filled with different styles of performance and an array of artists presenting raucously fun, unpredictable and interactive theatre and comedy. By day the space will be for performance, but by night it will evolve into a Theatre Nightclub.

The Alchemical Cabaret, inspired by late 1800's Bohemian Cabaret and depression era circus sideshows, will perform an extravaganza of bardic harp poetry, feats of human endurance, esoteric shadow puppetry and the world's first double razorblade act!

International master puppeteer, Gary Friedman and Learning-Movement consultant & OT, Sharon Gelber, take movement and story telling to the most elaborate ends. Their work using paper puppetry is designed to activate your brain and tantalize your senses to think and perform at your peak ability.

There will also be performances by Mr Bambles and Mr Bamboo, Max Sharam, Vox Bandicoot and so many more artists, stay tunned for our next arts announce.

THE LAND OF HOPELESS UTOPIANS

The Land of Hopeless Utopians will excite audiences in the massive 13.5 diameter geodesic dome, featuring 360 degrees of internal projections. Hosted by Rejenr8.

Punk Monk Propaganda in association with the innovative Rejenr8 Dome People & in juxtaposition to HEAD ON will create a distinct face and voice for Peats Ridge 2010. Over the duration of the festival, we invite festival attendees to bring us your experience bytes shot via phone or camera, which the team will upload to integrate into one giant collaborative vision. Everything will be group-generated on site. Share in the unified yet unique experience, which is the exploratory sustainable spirit of Peats Ridge. The final short film '15 MB of Fame' will screen on NYE in The Dome. That's 360 degrees of universal festival love.

HEAD ON, Australia's most critically acclaimed portrait prize and photographic festival, will also be showcasing a selection of artworks projected each night at the Bellbird Stage and in The Land of Hopeless Utopians.

Punk Monk Propaganda, will present 'Live Liquid Light shows', a mix of tactile organic delights fusing geodesic technology with grass roots old school mysticism. Expect coloured oil, river creatures, optical illusions in the open dome space where the psychedelic ghost of chaos lingers. Another show, 'Visceral Pulp', will utilise pre-recorded curated content in a mobile mashup pre-engineered by the osmotic Punk Monk hivemind.

The Future Sound of Yoga will lead a fusion of yoga, dance & music sequences and freeform dance to cutting edge electronica, atmospheric artists & film soundtracks.

The Radar Synthesiser, with artist Daniel Stocks will explore sensations of movement as viewed in the radio frequency spectrum. The Radar Synthesiser emits a low energy radar signal and listens to the reflections generated by nearby moving objects, interpreted by an analog synthesiser section to form a sound field representative of the local space. Through projection of the sound the audience will be able to view and explore aspects of their own nature through a new sensory medium.
