New website features environmental flavour

Tetra Pak Oceania

tetrapakTetra Pak Oceania values the environment and has launched a new website so consumers understand the credentials of cartons and what they can do with them at end of life.

The website can be found at both www.tetrapak.com.au and www.tetrapak.co.nz.

Environment Manager for Tetra Pak Oceania, Cheryl Speechly said, "Tetra Pak is committed to being a leader in sustainable packaging.

"While no package is fully sustainable yet, Tetra Pak is committed to creating packaging solutions that reduce CO2 emissions, cut down on transport and handling costs, use renewable materials, and are suitable for all waste management systems.

"As a company, we set ourselves ambitious targets to help create a world we want to live in," she said.

The website allows consumers to learn more about Tetra Pak's environmental initiatives, as well as check whether they can recycle locally. The site draws on Planet Ark's Australian recycling information at www.recyclingnearyou.com.au/milk-juice-cartons, which Tetra Pak sponsors.

As well as encouraging recycling, the website also lists other uses for empty cartons: as containers for vegetable scraps, as compost or firewood, to protect new seedlings, or for kids' craft activities. The site even has some examples of craft projects.
