Cohousing communities are designed to include common areas enhancing human relationships, cooperation and preserving recreational space. Cohousing adds proactive sustainability features and activities to the community's environment and living practices.

Cars are parked on the periphery of the site. This innovative neighbourhood model originated in Denmark in the 1970's and now represents ten percent of all new housing. Denmark also has a legal requirement that at least sixty percent of all demolition materials must be recycled.
