Victoria Attracts Key Carbon Market Event

227-carbon-market-expo1Melbourne will host Carbon Expo Australasia this year giving Victorian businesses better opportunities to reap the benefits that will flow from the challenge of climate change.

Financial Services Minister John Lenders said the Brumby Labor Government was a foundation sponsor of the event which would be held outside Queensland for the first time this year.

By hosting this Expo in Victoria we are demonstrating our commitment to help ensure Victoria and its industries capitalise on emerging carbon trading opportunities," Mr Lenders said. Carbon Expo Australasia 2010 has become Australia's key event for doing carbon market related business and is now in its third year of operation.

Mr Lenders said the event would be hosted at Melbourne's renowned 6 star green star Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 11-13 October.

"Victorian companies will have the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities to national and international buyers and sellers of carbon market products and services," Mr Lenders said.

"The Brumby Labor Government will also highlight Melbourne's strengths as a location for carbon market related business, with its expertise detailed in our Melbourne Carbon Market Services Guide."

Mr Lenders said the 2010 Expo was expected to pay close attention to climate change developments at the national and international level and would also focus on engagement in global markets and carbon reduction strategies.
