Sustainable Living Festival even stronger with new 2 week format

Sustainable Living Festival now in its 11th year is growing ever stronger.

While you may be familiar with the three day festival held at Federation Square in recent years, due to popular demand this year the festival is trialling a new two week format.

The main event will still be at Fed Square from the 19th - 21st of February 2010,  but the festival has expanded to include a new Local Events program from the 6th -21st of February 2010, to provide an opportunity for sustainability minded groups to become a part of one of Melbourne's most successful environmental initiatives.

The new two week format is designed for people and environmental groups to host their own satellite local events supported by the Festival umbrella, to identify opportunities for change in their own communities and to add their voices to the growing chorus.

The theme of the festival this year is Getting ready for the safe climate decade and we need you to get on board. We want you to engage with your community, to galvanise your troops, to spread the sustainability message far and wide. It may be a film night, a swap meet, community gardening or a tree planting day.

Whatever your angle, if sustainability is the message, then there is a place for you. Sustainability encompasses such a diverse message that it needs us all to tell the story. If your group has been working for sustainability or you know one that is, then now is the time to join forces and build the inertia. With so little leadership from the top, it is up to us to drive the change that is necessary.

To find out more about how you can get involved with the Sustainable Living Festival and host a local event, go online at www.festival.slf.org.au/apply or call the office on (03) 9249 1888.

I am worried this is not the first time they announce it. Do you hear about the issues in the prestigious London hotels and how they resolve it?
